Thinking one is seeing the whole picture unfortunately seems to be the default. The information given is one hundred percent of the information known, and the brain seems to easily equate this with having all the information there is to have.
Perhaps it’s because I have been playing poker lately but I think this kind of consciousness of negative space is essential for anyone who wants to be taken seriously. Poker puts your mind in a constant state of “and”. The player had the information he has, and then “and” comes into the picture.
If everyone had opinions like they bet in poker, the world might be a better place. Unfortunately that’s not the case as it seems not much is to be lost for having a terrible opinion.
